One of the greatest examples in the world of subtropical and Mediterranean gardens is found precisely in Ischia and exactly in Forio: they are the Gardens of the Mortella created by Susana Walton, wife of Sir William Walton, an English composer from the 1900s who had chosen Ischia as his second home. The gardens, which can be visited from April to November, also have a Greek theater where in the summer they perform classical music concerts and other musical events.
